Restoration Hardware retail stores were known for their eclectic mix of merchandise, displayed with amusing accounts by founder/president Steve Gordon about why he personally picked each item. In developing a retail catalog, the company wished to carryover the appealing warmth of these stories, which customers loved. Our concept was built around an item-based layout with a typographic hierarchy that highlighted these stories. Each page was also subtly branded with the company’s silver sage signature color. Initially, we handled all design and production until the growth of the catalog necessitated a full-time inhouse catalog team.
